| Rules for the “Petro-Points Insurance Services Win a Million Points” Contest November 2007
The sponsors of this Contest are Pétrole et gaz Petro-Canada s.e.n.c. (Petro-Canada) and Ingle International Inc. (“Contest Sponsors”)
1 HOW TO PARTICIPATE
1.1 Contest period: Contest Starts at 12:01 a.m., Eastern Time, on November 6, 2007 and ends at 12:01a.m., Eastern Time, on January 1, 2008 (“Contest Period”).
1.2 Eligibility: No purchase is necessary. Every time a PETRO-POINTS card Member (“Member”) requests a travel, life or health insurance quote for PETRO-POINTS Insurance Services via the internet from www.petro-points.com or http://www.petro-pointsinsurance.comor via the toll free phone number 1-800-350-0126, the Member automatically qualifies for one (1) entry into “The PETRO-POINTS INSURANCE SERVICES WIN A MILLION POINTS CONTEST” (“Contest”). Limit of one (1) entry per Member no matter how many quotes requested. To be eligible to enter the CONTEST, Members must provide their PETRO-POINTS Membership Card number at the time of making their insurance quote request.
The Contest is open to all residents of Canada who are PETRO-POINTS Members who have reached the age of majority in their Province of residence and are in good standing, except employees, retirees of Contest Sponsors, Citigroup Inc. their affiliates, franchisees, agents, associates, dealers, representatives, advertising and promotional agencies and members of the immediate family of these employees or any person with whom they are domiciled.
2 PRIZE
2.1 PRIZE: One (1) Prize consisting of One (1) Million Petro-Points. Such Prize to be awarded as one (1) million PETRO-POINTS to be credited on the winner’s PETRO-POINTS account. The approximate value of the Prize is $500.00.
2.2 Awarding of the Prize: The Prize will be awarded by a random computer generated draw from all eligible Contest entries to be held on Thursday, January 3, 2007 at 2:00 p.m., Eastern Time, in Mississauga, Ontario, at 2489 North Sheridan Way, Mississauga, Ontario L5K1A8.
The Prize must be accepted as awarded. No cash alternatives, substitution or transfers of the Prize will be allowed. The Prize winner shall not be entitled to convert the Petro-Points into cash or credit with PETRO-POINTS Insurance Services.
Subject to these Rules, the Prize will be credited to the account of the selected entrant within 4 to 6 weeks of the date when Contest Sponsors receive the executed Declaration and Release Form from the selected entrant.
Subject to these Rules, the Prize will be awarded to the selected entrant whose name and address appears on Petro-Canada’s PETRO-POINTS database as the holder of the PETRO POINTS Membership Card number that was provided at time of entry, whether submitted on-line or requested via telephone.
2.3 Odds: The odds of being randomly selected depend on the total number of eligible entries registered in compliance with these Rules during the Contest Period.
2.4 Notification of Selection: The selected entrant will be contacted by email, telephone or mail (using the contact information that was provided to Contest Sponsors at time of entry). At least three (3) attempts to contact the selected entrant will be made within the fourteen (14) business days following the Prize Draw date. If Contest Sponsors or their representative are unable to contact the selected entrant within fourteen (14) business days following the Prize Draw date, another entrant will be randomly selected and the initial selected entrant will be disqualified and will have no recourses towards Contest Sponsors or anyone involved in the Contest.
2.5 In order to win, the selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone by Contest Sponsors or their representative and they will be required to sign a standard Declaration and Release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules, acceptance of the Prize as awarded and releasing the Contest Sponsors from all liability. No substitution for, or transfer of the prize, will be allowed. The selected entrant will have seven (7) business days from the date of receipt to return a signed copy of the Declaration and Release form to Contest Sponsors or their representative. If the selected entrant does not do so, another entrant will be randomly selected and the initial selected entrant will be disqualified and will have no recourses towards Petro-Canada or anyone involved in the Contest.
3 GENERAL RULES
3.1 The Prize claim is subject to verification by the Contest Sponsors and/or their designated representatives. Entries made with multiple addresses, under multiple identities or through the use of any other device or artifice to enter multiple times are automatically void. All Contest entries obtained through unauthorized sources or which are incomplete, invalid, altered, reproduced, forged, irregular or fraudulent in any way or otherwise not in compliance with these Rules are automatically void. Contest Sponsors will be the sole and final reference source in validating Prize claims.
3.2 By participating, each entrant and the selected winner agrees: (a) to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of the Contest Sponsors; (b) to release and hold harmless Contest Sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, and independent contractors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability for claims/damages including, but not limited to, claims/damages for personal injury, or property damage with respect to acceptance, possession or use or misuse of the Prize or participation in the Contest; (c) to permit Contest Sponsors to use his/her name, address, city, province, photograph, videotape or any likeness for advertising or publicity purposes without any additional compensation and (d) the winner agrees to sign a Declaration and Release Form to this effect.
The decisions of the Contest Sponsors in relation with this Contest will be final and binding on all entrants.
3.3 Contest Sponsors shall not be responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription or registration of entry information, technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, faulty, incomplete, incomprehensible, or erased computer or network transmissions, line failures of any telephone network, computer equipment, software, inability to access any online service or web site, inability to submit the online entry form, or any other error or malfunction, or any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest, or for late, lost, illegible or misdirected entries.
3.4 Contest Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, terminate, or suspend this Contest, at their sole discretion, in the event a technical failure, computer virus or bug, unauthorized human intervention, fraud or any other occurrence or cause beyond their control that corrupt or adversely affect the administration, security, fairness or normal operation of the Contest, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for Quebec residents.
3.5 In the event that a minor person in his or her province of residence claims the Prize, an adult, parent, or legal guardian, shall accept the Prize in his or her name and sign any required document to such effect.
3.6 No purchase is necessary.
In the event a Member wishes to enter the Contest, but does not request an insurance quote, a Member may submit a request to be entered in the Contest by sending by mail a hand-written, original document (not mechanically reproduced) in which they will explain in 100 words or less why they like PETRO-POINTS Insurance Services. This request must include the Member’s name, PETRO-POINTS Membership number, address, city, province, postal code, email address and daytime telephone number, and must be sent in an envelope addressed to: Petro-Points Insurance Services WIN A MILLION POINTS CONTEST, 2489 North Sheridan Way, Mississauga, Ontario L5K 1A8 . Entries must be postmarked no later than December 28th, 2007. Limit of one (1) entry per Member with sufficient postage. All mail-in entries will bear the same odds as regular PETRO-POINTS Eligible entries transactions. Electronic entries will not be accepted.
3.7 The CONTEST is subject to all Federal, Provincial and local laws, as well as the rules adopted in view of said laws.
3.8 For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
3.9 The Prize must be accepted as awarded. The Prize may not be substituted, transferred to someone else or exchanged for its cash value. However, in the event where, for reasons not related to the selected winner, the Contest Sponsors cannot award the Prize described in these Rules, it reserves the right to award a prize of equivalent kind and value or, at its sole discretion, the cash value of the Prize (value disclosed in section of these Rules) in lieu of the prize won.
3.10 Under no circumstances will Contest Sponsors their affiliates, subsidiaries, and independent contractors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies be required to award more prizes than indicated in these Rules or award prizes other than in accordance with these Rules.
