    3. General Rules

    1.1 Sponsor: The sponsor of this Contest is Suncor Energy Inc. (the “Contest Sponsor”).

    1.2 Eligibility: The “Win a Trip to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games Contest” (“Contest”) is open to all residents of Canada, who have reached the age of majority in their province/territory of residence, who have obtained a Russian Visa and have met all of the requirements of the government of Russia to allow them entry into and stay in Russia during the Grand Prize time period, who are in compliance with the Contest Rules & Regulations (“Rules”), and who are members in good standing of the Petro-Points program, except employees of, a member of the immediate family of an employee of, or retiree of, or domiciled with an employee of Contest Sponsor or any of its affiliated companies, franchisees, agents, associates, dealers, representatives, or advertising and promotional agencies (“Eligible Entrant”).

    1.3 Contest Period and Entry: Starting at 12:00 a.m., Mountain Time, August 12th, 2013 to 11:59 p.m., Mountain Time, August 31st, 2013 (“Contest Period”), each Eligible Entrant will receive one (1) entry into the contest for each 1,000 Petro-Points they donate to support the Canadian Olympic Team up to a maximum of fifty (50) entries per Petro-Points Account.

    1.4 Contest Entry Restrictions: A maximum of fifty (50) entries per Petro-Points Account. No purchase is necessary.

    1.5 Awarding of Prizes: Subject to complying with the Rules and Regulations of the Contest, the Grand Prize will be awarded to the selected Eligible Entrant whose name and address appears on Suncor’s PETRO-POINTS database for the Petro-Points Account that was used to make the donation, or quoted in the mailed-in entry.

    2. PRIZES

    2.1 Grand Prize: There will be two (2) Grand Prizes of a five (5) day, four (4) night trip for two (2) to Sochi, Russia to cheer on the Canadian Olympic Team that will be awarded by a random computer generated draw (See Rules 2.3 and 2.4). Each Grand Prize package will include:

    A random computer generated draw (See Rules 2.3 and 2.4) will be used to select the Eligible Entrants who will have a chance to win a Prize.

    • One (1) $5,000.00 CDN Pre-paid Visa card
    • Pre-booked four (4) night hotel stay for two (2) at the Zhemchuzhina Hotel (Check-in February 20th, 2014 to Check-Out February 24th, 2014)
    • Two (2) tickets to five (5) Olympic events as follows:
      1. February 21 11:45 a.m. — Freestyle Skiing
      2. February 21 4:45 p.m. — Alpine Skiing
      3. February 22 5:30 p.m. — Speed Skating
      4. February 23 4:00 p.m. — Ice Hockey (Men’s Tournament - Gold medal game)
      5. February 23 8:00 p.m. — Closing Ceremony
    • Single entry pass to enjoy exquisite food, beverage and entertainment at CoSport’s hospitality center located in the Coastal Cluster on February 22, 3:30 p.m.

    The total amount of each of the two (2) Grand Prizes is approximately $19,935.

    It is the responsibility of each of the Grand Prize winners to obtain necessary travel documentation, including, but not limited to, a Russian Visa, and to ensure that they are aware of and able to meet all of the requirements of the government of Russia to allow them entry into and stay in Russia during the Grand Prize time period.

    It is the responsibility of each of the Grand Prize winners to arrange for their own transportation including, but not limited to making their own flight arrangements. The Pre-paid Visa cards in the Grand Prize packages can be used to cover transportation expenses.

    The Prize must be accepted as awarded. No cash alternatives, substitution or transfers of the Grand Prize will be allowed. Once the Grand Prize has been awarded, the winner will have no further recourse against the Contest Sponsor.

    2.2 Odds: The odds of being randomly selected to win one of the Grand Prizes will depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.

    2.3 Grand Prize Draw: A draw for each of the Grand Prizes will be made by a random computer-generated selection on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2013, at noon Mountain Standard Time or soon thereafter, in Mississauga, Ontario (2489 North Sheridan Way), from all eligible entries registered during the Contest Period (“Prize Draw”). The selected Eligible Entrants will be contacted by email or telephone. At least three (3) attempts to contact each of the selected Eligible Entrants by email or phone will be made within the three (3) days following the Prize Draw. If the Contest Sponsor is unable to contact a selected Eligible Entrant within three (3) days following the Prize Draw, another Eligible Entrant will be randomly selected and the initial selected Eligible Entrant will be disqualified, his/her right to the Grand Prize will be forfeited and that selected Eligible Entrant will have no further recourse towards Contest Sponsor or anyone involved in the Contest.

    2.4 Prize Claim: In order to win the Grand Prize, the selected Eligible Entrant must first correctly answer a time limited, arithmetical, skill-testing question to be administered by Contest Sponsor, and, following that, he or she will be required to sign and return a standard Declaration and Release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and Regulations, the Eligibility Requirements, if applicable, acceptance of the Grand Prize as awarded and releasing Contest Sponsor from all liability. No substitution for, or transfer of the Grand Prize, will be allowed. The selected Eligible Entrant will have seven (7) days to return the Declaration and Release form upon receipt by email or by mail. If the selected Eligible Entrant does not do so, another Eligible Entrant will be randomly selected and the initial selected Eligible Entrant will be disqualified, his/her right to the Grand Prize will be forfeited and that selected Eligible Entrant will have no further recourse towards Contest Sponsor or anyone involved in the Contest.

    3.1 All Prize claims are subject to verification by Contest Sponsor and/or their designated representatives. Entries made with multiple addresses, under multiple identities, through the use of any device or artifice to enter multiple times or entries that are in excess of the permitted number of entries for the Contest Period are automatically void. All purchase transaction receipts obtained through unauthorized sources or which are illegible, mutilated, altered, reproduced, forged or irregular in any way, are automatically void. Contest Sponsor will be the sole and final reference source in validating Prize claims.

    If a dispute arises regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the primary PETRO-POINTS Member as identified in the PETRO-POINTS database as provided at time of entry.

    3.2 By participating, each Eligible Entrant and the winners agree:

    1. to be bound by these Rules and Regulations, and the decisions of Contest Sponsor,

    2. to the collection and use of his/her personal information by Contest Sponsor for the purpose of administering the Contest,

    3. to release and hold harmless Contest Sponsor, their affiliates, subsidiaries, and independent contractors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability for any claims/damages whatsoever with respect to acceptance, possession or use or misuse of the Prize or participation in the Contest,

    4. to permit Contest Sponsor to use his/her name, city, province of residence, photograph, video, or likeness for advertising or publicity purposes without any additional compensation, and

    5. to sign a Declaration and Release Form to this effect.
    3.3 The decisions of Contest Sponsor in relation to this Contest will be final and binding on all Contest entrants.

    3.4 Contest Sponsor shall not be responsible for incorrect or inaccurate transcription or registration of Contest entry information, technical malfunctions, lost, delayed, incomplete, interrupted, misdirected, stolen, illegible, or /deleted data/network transmissions, line failures of any telecommunication network, failure of computer equipment, software, inability to access any online service or web site, inability to submit the registration form or any other malfunction or human or technical error, or any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest, or for late, lost, stolen, postage due, illegible or misdirected entries.

    3.5 Contest Sponsor reserve its right to cancel, terminate, or suspend this Contest, at its sole discretion, in the event of a technical failure, computer virus or bug, unauthorized human intervention, fraud or any other occurrence or cause beyond its control that corrupts or adversely affects the administration, security, fairness or normal operation of the Contest, subject, in Quebec, to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.

    3.6 If a selected Eligible Entrant is awarded a Prize due to a system error, malfunction or defect or human error the Prize will be returned to the Prize pool, to be re-awarded.

    3.7 Under no circumstances will the Contest Sponsor, or its directors, officers, employees, and agents, including advertising and promotion agencies be required to award more Prize(s) than indicated in these Rules and Regulations or award the Prize other than in accordance with these Rules and Regulations.

    3.8 The Contest is subject to all Federal, Provincial and local laws, as well as the rules adopted in view of said laws. For participants outside Québec: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity interpretation and enforceability of the Rules or the rights and obligations as between the Eligible Entrant and Contest Sponsor in connection with the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws.

    3.9 For Quebec residents: any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

    3.10 In the event that a minor person in his or her province of residence claims a Prize, an adult parent, or legal guardian, shall accept the Prize in his or her name and sign any required document to such effect.

    3.11 No purchase is necessary.

    Members may submit an entry to the Contest and be eligible to win by sending by mail a hand-written, original (not mechanically reproduced), distinctly worded, 25-word or more description of why the entrant likes PETRO-POINTS, which must include the Member’s PETRO-POINTS Membership number, and a self-addressed envelope to: Petro-Canada 2014 WIN A TRIP TO SOCHI 2014, 2489 North Sheridan Way, Mississauga, Ontario, L5K 1A8. Limit of one (1) entry per original text. Each text submitted must be different. Entries must be postmarked no later than August 31, 2013. Limit of one (1) entry per envelope with sufficient postage. Limit of fifty (50) entries per person. All mail-in entries will bear the same odds of winning as the other modes of entering this Contest. All entries that are not in compliance with the provisions of this section and the Rules and Regulations of this Contest will be null and void and not eligible for the Grand Prize.
