    "Get In On The Action With Face" Contest

    No Purchase Necessary. This Contest is only open to residents of Canada and is governed by Canadian laws.

    3. General Rules

    1.1 Sponsor: The sponsor of this contest is Suncor Energy Products Partnership (the “Contest Sponsor” or “Suncor”).

    1.2 Eligibility: The Petro-Canada “Get In On The Action With Face” Contest (the “Contest”) is open to residents of Canada only, who have reached the age of majority in their province/territory of residence, and who are in compliance with the Contest Rules and Regulations (“Rules”), except employees, retirees of Suncor and its parent, subsidiaries, affiliates, franchisees, agents, associates, dealers, representatives, advertising and promotional agencies and members of the immediate family (brothers, sisters, children, father, mother) of these employees and retirees or any person with whom they are domiciled (“Eligible Entrant”).
    1.3 Contest Period: The Contest begins at 10:00 a.m., Eastern Time on October 14, 2015 and ends at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Time on October 26, 2015 (“Contest Period”).

    Contest Entry: Internet access, a valid e-mail account and a Facebook account are required to participate. In order to enter the Contest, Eligible Entrants must be a registered user on Facebook*. If the Eligible Entrant does not have a Facebook account, follow the on-screen instructions to register for a free Facebook account at Only one (1) Facebook account may be used by each Eligible Entrant in connection with this Contest. Using the designated application on the Petro-Canada Fuels Athletes Facebook page, Eligible Entrants are invited to fill in an entry form and upload a photo to receive one (1) entry into the Contest.

    The following conditions apply to the photo submitted (herein: the "Material"):

    • 1.3.1  It must be original and the entrant must be its sole author or have obtained all required rights or authorizations for its use in the scope of this Contest;
    • 1.3.2  The photo must show the entrant doing a sport activity.
    • 1.3.3  Accepted photo formats are: .JPEG, 4 MB maximum, 800 pixels (height) by 600 pixels (width) minimum dimension and must not be of poor quality;
    • 1.3.4  The text must comprise between 100 and 200 characters. Each text must be different;
    • 1.3.5  The content of the Material must be in French on the French version of the Contest website or in English on its English version.
    • 1.3.6  The Material must not hold inappropriate content, notably content which is explicitly sexual, offensive, harassing, discriminatory, libellous, violent, malicious, hateful, content which may be against knowledgeable accepted standards of good behaviour among the Canadian society or which depreciates the Contest Sponsor or its affiliated companies’ products or services. It must not contain suggestive images or language promoting an illegal activity and must not contain commercial content showing or promoting a product or service other than those of the Contest Sponsor. The entrant will have to make sure he/she has obtained all required authorizations with regards to any portion of the Material submitted which is protected by copyright, any other intellectual property right or the right of a third party;
    • 1.3.7   The Material must not have already been published or submitted in the scope of another contest or promotion.

    If the Material submitted seems eligible following a preliminary evaluation by the Sponsor and/or its representatives, it will be taken into account for the selection as more fully details herein.

    Given the nature of the present Contest and its entry and Material broadcast conditions, it may be difficult or impossible for the Contest Sponsor to identify content which is not eligible or has not undergone the required necessary authorizations. The Contest Sponsor does not require additional documentation from entrants to sustain that they have obtained the necessary authorizations before broadcast of the Material. Therefore, if a portion of the Material submitted does not comply with these Contest Rules or if the Contest Sponsor has reason to believe it does not comply, it reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify the entrant’s entry, to remove part of the Material or to modify it in whole or in part, notably by hiding the concerned elements. If the Material is not broadcast or is withdrawn, no entry will be awarded for such participation. No notice or explanation will be given to the entrant as to why it was decided to broadcast or not the Material submitted or why it was withdrawn.

    In order to be eligible to the Contest and for the Material submitted to be broadcast, any entrant must provide the following authorization by checking the corresponding box on the Entry Form:

    Statement of consent, authorization and release in connection with the Material submitted

    I grant Suncor and its representatives the authorization to reproduce, broadcast, publish, distribute, represent in public, edit, modify and translate the Material submitted and I declare to have obtained such authorization from persons who are represented in the Material and the authorization of their parent or legal guardian in the case of minors, as the case may be. These are worldwide authorizations, without any compensation and for an unlimited period of time, for the purposes of this Contest or for any other purpose related to the activities of Suncor, including but without being limited to, broadcast in various media notably the Contest Sponsor’s web site, web banners, existing Internet platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, etc.) or advertising material promoting the present Contest or its future editions, as the case may be, or the services and/or products of Suncor. I agree for my first name, last name and location of residence to be used in connection with the Material submitted. I declare that the Material submitted is original, that I am its sole author or that I have obtained all required rights or authorizations for its use according to the terms set out in these Contest Rules and that I am not in violation of any law or third-party right. Upon request, I accept to provide Suncor and its representatives with the authorizations mentioned in this section. I acknowledge that Suncor and its representatives have no responsibility concerning the use and broadcast of the Material submitted for the authorized purposes and they cannot be held liable for any violation whatsoever under these terms and conditions or terms of use of the web site by users. I undertake to reimburse Suncor and its representatives the amount corresponding to any expense incurred by them in the event of a claim or legal proceedings resulting from the use or the broadcast of the Material submitted.


    1.4 Contest Entry Restrictions: There is a limit of one (1) eligible entry per Eligible Entrant.  Each entry will be reviewed and deemed eligible or ineligible by Suncor in accordance with these Rules. Subsequent or ineligible entries submitted by an Eligible Entrant will be considered void.

    1.5 Awarding of Prizes:Prizes will be awarded to the selected Eligible Entrants whose contact information (email address) has been given at time of the entry in the Entry Form on the Facebook page, who have complied with the Rules, and who have been deemed to have won a prize in accordance with the Rules.

    2. PRIZES

    2.1 Prizes: Fifteen (15) prizes of a Petro-Canada prize pack consisting of an Olympic or Paralympic pin, a mug, and a Preferred Price Card. Each Prize is valued at $25.

    Each Prize must be accepted as awarded. No cash alternatives, substitution or transfers of the Prizes will be allowed.

    2.2 Odds:The odds of being selected to win a Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period.

    2.3 Judging: A panel of judges consisting of four (4) Suncor employees will select the pictures of twenty (20) Eligible Entrants entries based upon the criteria of photo quality, creativity, and enthusiasm. Judging will be completed by November 4, 2015 at 3pm EST in Mississauga, ON. Each judge will rank their top twenty (20) pictures from all of the pictures submitted during the Contest Period by Eligible Entrants. The top fifteen (15) pictures with the highest rankings from the judges will be the selected Eligible Entrants to be eligible to win a prize. Once an Eligible Entrant has been determined by the panel of judges to be ranked in the fifteen (15) pictures from the Contest, and the Eligible Entrant has met all of the requirements of the Contest under the Contest Rules and Regulations, Suncor will award a prize to each for such Eligible Entrants and will then announce all winners from the Contest.

    Each selected Eligible Entrant will be contacted by email by Petro-Canada’s partner LintBucket Media. At least three (3) attempts to contact the selected Eligible Entrant by email will be made within the fourteen (14) days following the Prize winner selection. If the Contest Sponsor is unable to contact the selected Eligible Entrant within fourteen (14) days, the next Eligible Entrant on the ranking list by the judges will be selected and the initial selected Eligible Entrant will be disqualified, his/her right to the Prize will be forfeited, and that selected Eligible Entrant will have no further recourse towards Contest Sponsor or anyone involved in the Contest.

    There is a limit of one (1) entry and one (1) prize per Eligible Entrant for the Contest.



    Prize Claim:In order to win a Prize, the selected Eligible Entrant must sign and return a Declaration and Release form confirming compliance with these Contest Rules, the Eligibility Requirements, if applicable, acceptance of the Prize as awarded and releasing Contest Sponsor from all liability. The selected Eligible Entrant will have seven (7) days, upon receipt, to return a signed copy of the Declaration and Release form to the Contest Sponsor. If the selected Eligible Entrant does not do so, another Eligible Entrant will be selected and the initial selected Eligible Entrant will be disqualified, his/her right to the Prize will be forfeited, and that selected Eligible Entrant will have no further recourse towards Contest Sponsor or anyone involved in the Contest.

    Upon receipt of the duly signed Declaration and Release form, the Eligible Entrant will be declared a winner and the Prize will be delivered to the winner’s address provided via mail.



    3.1 Entry forms, ballots and Declaration and Release forms are subject to verification by Contest Sponsor and/or its designated representatives. Any Entry or Declaration and Release form which is, as the case may be, invalid, incomplete, illegible, mutilated, fraudulent, registered or submitted late, not received, bearing an invalid e-mail address, or otherwise non-compliant with these Rules shall be rejected and not be entitled to an entry or to a Prize, as the case may be. Contest Sponsor will be the sole and final reference source in validating Eligible Entrants, entries and the Declaration and Release forms. Contest Sponsor is not responsible or liable for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, stolen, delayed, undelivered, unregistered, damaged or destroyed entries, notifications, replies or any Declaration and Release form; for lost, faulty, interrupted, inaccessible or unavailable networks, servers, websites or other connections, related to the Contest and/or the Petro-Canada Fuels Athletes Page on Facebook; for errors and failures of any kind, including, but not limited to, human, electronic, mechanical and/or technical in nature; for failure or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer and online systems, servers, computer equipment, software, e-mail, players, or browsers on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, the Petro-Canada Fuels Athletes Page on Facebook, any related website, application or any combination thereof or otherwise; for any injury or damage to entrant, entrant's computer, or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in or downloading material in connection with the Contest; or for incorrect or inaccurate information.

    3.2 By participating, each Eligible Entrant and the winners agree:


    1. to be bound by these Rules and the decisions of Contest Sponsor;
    2. to the collection and use of his/her personal information by Contest Sponsor for the purpose of administering the Contest;
    3. to release and hold harmless Contest Sponsor, its affiliates, subsidiaries, and independent contractors, and their respective directors, officers, employees, agents and representatives including advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all liability for any claims/damages whatsoever with respect to acceptance, possession, use or misuse of a Prize, and/or entry or attempt to enter the Contest;
    4. to permit Contest Sponsor to use his/her name, the details on his/her answers to the contest, city, province/territory of residence, photograph, likeness, video, voice and/or declarations regarding a Prize for advertising or publicity purposes without any compensation; and
    5. to sign a Declaration and Release Form to this effect. Subject to what is provided in these Rules, the decisions of Contest Sponsor in relation to this Contest will be final and binding on all Eligible Entrants.

    3.3 Contest Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, or suspend this Contest, at its sole discretion, in the event of a technical failure, computer virus or bug, unauthorized human intervention, fraud or any other occurrence or cause beyond its control that corrupts or adversely affects the administration, security, fairness or normal operation of the Contest, subject, in Quebec, to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.

    3.4 In the event that the computerized system is unable to fully process the purchase transaction while the Eligible Entrant is at the participating Petro-Canada station (due to system problems, or a pay at the pump purchase), the purchase transaction will still be eligible to participate in the Contest. The purchase transaction will be subsequently processed through the Contest computer system; Contest Sponsor assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected claims or for any failure, or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, or computer system during the promotional period.

    3.5 Under no circumstances will the Contest Sponsor be required to award more prizes than indicated in these Rules or to award a prize otherwise than in accordance with these Rules.
    3.6 The Contest is subject to all Federal, Provincial and local laws, as well as the rules adopted in view of said laws. For non Quebec residents: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the Rules or the rights and obligations as between the entrant and Suncor in connection with the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws. For Quebec residents: any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Quebec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

    3.7 If a paragraph of these Rules is declared illegal, non-executable or null by a competent court, then this paragraph will be considered void, but unaffected all paragraphs will be applied within the limits of the law.

    3.9 In case of any discrepancy between the French and English versions of these Rules, the English version shall prevail.
    3.10 This Contest is not managed, endorsed, administered or sponsored by Facebook. Any Contest entrant is providing his or her information to the Contest Sponsor and not to Facebook. Any question, comment or complaint regarding the Contest must be directed to the Contest Sponsor and not to Facebook. Facebook and all its affiliates, directors, officers, agents and employees are not liable for any claims arising out of or in connection with the organization of this Contest. However, by participating in this Contest, each entrant agrees to abide by the terms and conditions of use, contracts, other policies and/or guidelines governing the Facebook platform and releases the Contest Sponsor, any company, corporation, trust or other legal entity controlled by or affiliated with it, their advertising and promotional agencies, their employees, agents and representatives from and against any damage that could arise from the use of this platform.
